Yahoo Listings

Yahoo used to be THE search engine to get listed in; however, it's importance has lessened quite a bit in the last year. 

Yahoo is one of the biggest search engines so if you get listed in Yahoo with a good search term there is a potential for you to get a lot of visitors.  Unfortunately, Yahoo does not offer guaranteed listings. 

They charge a $299 fee to consider listing your commercial web site.  This fee doesn't guarantee that you will get in Yahoo.  It just guarantees that they will consider accepting your site.  If they choose not to accept your web site, you are out the $299. 

Obviously, $299 is a lot of money (it's not a one time fee either.  You pay it each year.)  You must decide if it's worth it for you and your web site.  You do not have to list in Yahoo to be successful on the internet.  There are many companies that do not list in Yahoo and make a fine profit.  If you would like more information, you can find more about Yahoo's submission process on their website (click here.) 

If you decide to submit your web site to Yahoo and would like us to review your web site for you prior to submission, we would be happy to do so.  While we can't guarantee that they will accept your web site after we review it, we can look to see if you have any red flags that may cause them to decline it.

Personally, we are not listed in Yahoo and are doing quite nicely.  The opinion of most experienced webmasters these days seems to be that having a Yahoo listing is nice, but it is certainly not required.  If money is an issue, you can get more "bang for your buck" elsewhere.
